Encompass has grown through the acquisition of long-standing, highly-respected leaders in the parts distribution and reverse logistics industry. In 2004, the company first acquired Cyber-Test, founded in 1986, to establish the Encompass Service Solutions (ESS) business unit. ESS specializes in extending the value of consumer and high-tech products through board-level and finished goods repair and refurbishment services, advance replacement services and parts reclamation. ESS additionally offers eco-friendly disposal of end-of-life products.
In 2007, the company acquired Vance Baldwin, Inc., a leading OEM parts distributor and logistics provider with nearly 60 years of industry experience, to form Encompass Parts Distribution. Encompass in 2008 expanded the EPD division with the acquisition of Tritronics, Inc., an award-winning distributor of consumer electronics parts and accessories founded in 1975.
EPD is now one of the country’s leading distributors of finished goods and original replacement parts with specialization in consumer electronics, appliance, computer and printer parts, supporting national retailers, independent dealers, rental organizations and consumers. The division also partners with clients to provide a range of outsourcing services, including finished goods and parts procurement and inventory management, order fulfillment, returns management, call center support and more.
In 2009, Encompass opened a distribution facility in Las Vegas, Nevada to more efficiently serve customers on the West Coast. This facility was expanded in 2012 to include a call center to bolster customer support on both coasts.
Encompass is privately held and backed by Sankaty Advisors, the credit affiliate of Bain Capital, with $18B in assets under management.
